'SANGRE DE INIMA'

FANTASY, PIRATES AND LOVE FOR NATURE IN A MYSTERIOUS ISLAND

When I use to think about an important novel in my life, I can't ignore the first book I created and an Editorial decide to publish it. Some years ago, I wrote other novels, which I will talk about in other posts from this blog, but I self-published them because I didn't have the resources to be published in an Editorial (or because they didn't have the level to be published from the point of view of some big Editorials. Sadly, It could be this reason). However, in march 2020, I started 'Sangre de Inima' and, fortunately, an Editorial called Atlantis published it in april 2021. However, how can I describe 'Sangre de Inima? What is about?

In this novel, I wanted to do something related to fantasy and fiction, having the ability to create and unreal story whit its characters, its plot... The protagonist of my story is Ángel. Ángel lives in Andalucía, specifically in Triana, Sevilla, his place of birth. However, he has to travel the Atlantic Ocean in order to arrive to Miami. Why to Miami? Because in this Florida seaside city lives Ángel's godson, Verdi, who is not living his best moment. Without a job, no studying anything, only wasting his time drinking alcohol and losing money in different slot machines, arriving very late at home after his usual nightlife... Briefly, he is being as a depressive teenager or, as Spanish people would say, he is a 'bala perdida'. His parents called Ángel to come to Miami in order to take care about his son. They are very busy because of working and they know that Ángel has a lot of chivalry, charisma and good faith. He is knowed as 'El justiciero', which means the person that makes good actions and justice. Ángel accepted to be the tutor of Verdi.

However, Ángel doesn't know how, but the situation changed a lot when he not only has to be Verdi's guardian. As the novel progresses, he has to go to an unknown island called 'Inima', an island whose ubication is lost across the Atlantic, removed from the globalization of the world. Why has Ángel to visit this mysterious island? Because unfortunately, Verdi has been kidnapped by a group of pirates that traffic with slaves, mostly female slaves. Ángel has to rescue his godson from that pirates that follow instructions from an evil dictator that has all the inhabitants from the island subjected to his terryfing power, and not only inhabitants. The wildlife from the island is very crucial, related to the great variety of animals that suffer the consequences of the villains too. Ángel will know the essence of the island during his expedition to rescue Verdi without being discovered and he is going to discover that not only the pirates and the dictator are the villains. The island has something more strange, something that Ángel is going to relate with witchcraft. Another enemies will appear, enemies related with paranormal situation, the hell... The people from Inima and the animals from the jungle can be an ally for Ángel.

In conclusion, 'Sangre de Inima' is a novel with an influence of different movies from my childhood, like 'The Lion King' or 'The Jungle Book, or different classical movies and novels. Reading and getting into the context of a wild island, someone can think about 'King Kong', 'The island of dr. Moreau', 'Conqueror of Maracaibo...'. In fact, the classical culture influenced me in order to create this story, but not only I was influenced by classical movies. I liked to mostrate a hispanic environment, related with my culture. The island has a Spanish influence due to its past, when Hispanic boatmen first discovered this site a lot of centuries ago. Specifically, I like to mostrate the classical Andalusian culture from my ancestors with, for example, the village from the island, where the inhabitants live in white old houses with typical architecture of Andalusian towns, villages like Priego de Córdoba, where my godfather is from, villages like Curro Jiménez used to travel when he lives his adventures in Andalucía, villages like you can see in Málaga, Almería, Cádiz...places with an unique charm that I wanted to convey for the readers. However, my first aim was to do a novel with adventures and fantasy that the reader can enjoy.

Adventures, surprises, mystery, pirates, animals, drama, love, heartbreak, betrayed... 'Sangre de Inima' is special for me and I wish that it can be special for someone that can adquire this manuscript.
